Often there’s a button near the headline that says “jump to recipe”. Also I’ve heard the recipe sites aren’t to blame, the fault is with google because they rank pages higher that have a lot more blah blah on it

This package is also used by mealie,a self hosted recipe manager. Works great and is easy to extend to new recipe websites.

I started keeping recipes in my obsidian notes, along with collecting old recipe books from estate sales, thrift stores, and used book shops. Lots of local organizations (rotary clubs, scout troops, etc) used to compile and create cookbooks, and you can often find them at the aforementioned places where used books go. It’s a great way to rediscover authentic recipes using local or easily found ingredients.

And I dunno, something feels much more real and magical about making “Tiffany’s Crawfish Pasta” with hand-penciled notes and substitutions from whichever old lady used to own this book (maybe even Tiff herself!) than just using the Spruce Eats version and hoping “Tiff3nyLovesTrump123” in the comments isn’t a bot and isn’t the original chef.

I noticed this too, increasingly! The page is called “Recipe for XYZ” yet I have to scroll way down until the inspired author graciously informs us that they are going to reveal the actual recipe now. Is that some sort of SEO or does it affect monetization or what?

I think it was on Lemmy that I heard about justtherecipe.com/ and it’s freaking great for solving this problem. Also you can save recipes you like so that’s cool

I bookmark recipes by saving the print page to my phone homescreen.

So when I click it, it’s just straight up recipe card.

One time I got an ad in the print screen… But most times this works for me. I wish I wrote them down though. I’ve tried a few times, but I never keep with it.

It’s at the point where I just automatically scroll 2/3rds of the way down the page whenever I’m looking up a recipe or any other general instructions.

SEO is why. Pack in as many words as possible to cast as wide a net as possible.

Getting a physical cookbook has made a world of difference. It’s really helped me enjoy cooking a lot more. Joy of Cooking, if you’re curious.
