        I recently moved to a ritzy neighborhood and the amount of bright ass 24/7 lighting aimed right into the sky is infuriating. So many tiny trees pointlessly illuminated from their base.

          I’d say it should be illegal, but I know a certain demographic would take that as a challenge to their freedumbs and put Broadway spotlights in their yard. Because fuck them birds.

    Would this really have any meaningful impact when streetlights etc. exist? This feels like plastic straws all over again.

      It definitely would in rural areas. And aside from birds, it’s helpful for the insect population in any backyard to have the lights off.

      Plastic straws were a drop in the bucket, but rather than going back to them, we should be taking more steps forward (ex plastic cutlery, disposable cups, etc). I’d rather see baby steps forward than throw in the towel because the problem is so big
