It’s so insane I haven’t ever told anyone or even revisited once the experience with childhood friends I haven’t seen in 30 years…
But when I was 8 or 9, there was an abandoned farm house me and two friends went into.
We were too chicken to go more than 2 steps into the basement, but from the narrow beam of our flashlight we could see a 6x3 ish hole dug into the dirt floor.
Suddenly, erupting from the entire house was the deafening sounds of thousands of dry sticks (… Bones?) snapping.
We ran. Just full terror running.
I was the furthest down the stairs, and so was the last out of the house. I looked back for a moment, and what had been bare white walls upstairs were bursting with a tsunami of black coarse straight hair.
The house has long since been torn down, and another has been built in it’s place. The town has grown around it.
OPs post is a meme, but it hits
Good stuff. Go post the long story, i’m curious. [email protected]
Maybe bats?
I actually did this.
… My old house, the houses of a few friends…
My old house was overgrown with grass and weeds, hedges hadn’t been trimmed, cars in the front yard.
New owners did not give a fuck, all the money my dad poured into that house and property was wasted.
The old daycare across the street?
Now its a weed store.
…
One neighbors house … down a couple streets.
Actually empty.
The neighbor to that neighbor came out… and informed me that my old friend’s dad had died, and he wasn’t sure where they went after they moved out.
… First time I ever went christmas carolling was with that family. Was at my friend’s wedding in the backyard of that house.
…
Other friend’s house… other side of town.
Damn mansion by comparison, views of water.
Also totally abandoned. Overgrown.
I could just walk around the property, nobody there, nothing.
The half acre they’d turned into a pretty serious garden…still there, but… just doing its own thing.
… The doors weren’t even locked.
I didn’t go in though.
The sub basment sort of crawl space thing, that they had started renovating not long before the last time I was last there… over a decade ago…
Basically was in the exact same condition of construction… just with a decade of detritus, dust, dead leaves.
… flashbacks to watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer for the first time at that house…helping tend that garden when they put it in, catching a frog in their yard… stealing a bit of their parent’s wine at one point… staging and doing final prep before prom night…
And then back to the same building, 10+ years later… as if it had been just abadoned within 6 months of me last being there…
… but… how can that be? How did it never get a new owner?
…
In conclusion, my hometown is literally cursed.
…
Bro, save some . for the rest of us
I hope this isn’t a spoiler for the upcoming Stranger Things season
I went back and looked for it, but the cigarette machine in the bowling alley that stole all my quarters was gone.
