We couldn’t possibly be more excited to announce that we’ve completed the Early Access development of Hades II, and officially launched v1.0 of the game!! Whether you’ve been playing all through Early Access or this will be your very first foray into our take on the Underworld of Greek myth, we welcome you and thank you for joining us!

I’m playing it right now after a year of not playing early access (I decided to wait until full release). It’s so much more polished and I’m glad I waited, from the get-go I noticed combat is a lot smoother, and all the menus and art have been improved.

Anybody playing it here? What’re your impressions?

I just bought Hades 1 last week, when it was at a 75% discount. I’m loving it so far!

Already bought Hades 2, and can’t wait to play it when I’m done with the first one

Already hundreds of hours into this game. Can’t wait to pump those numbers now. The Hades games are so perfect for the Steam Deck <3

What are the ergonomics like? I’ve heard the Steam Deck gets uncomfortable after a while, and for a twitchy game like Hades…

I have fairly large hands. I usually prefer the XBOX controller to the Playstation one because of that (and the Switch kills my hands within an hour). The Steam Deck is perfect for me.

It is really heavy for a handheld though, so it is more important how you rest arms and elbows during long play sessions.

Not OP, I recently got a steam deck to play Silksong, so I haven’t used it for long, and only for two games, Portal and Silksong. It’s been great for me so far, just took some getting used to. Definitely getting Hades II after I finish Silksong.

Because I have small hands, reaching the shoulder bumpers is hard, so I have those mapped to the back buttons. Reaching the right joystick was a bit hard at first but I got used to it.

It’s more comfortable than my Switch, and for playing long sessions, surprisingly more comfortable than my dualshock too, where I often strain my left thumb.

Will be playing tonight! I have about 70 hours in early access, so a good amount but nothing crazy. I’m still weighing starting fresh in order to experience the entire story in its 1.0 state.

Based on how they handled the original Hades, I am just going to wait a couple years until Hades II is finished before I try it.

What? I played through the original Hades not too long after release. I don’t remember any major updates. Just some bug fixes.

What was unfinished? Maybe the Skelly statues were added later?

There were nine updates after Hades reached v1.0.

I am not so eager to play video games that I am willing to put up with a constantly improving product like that. I would rather just wait until the product is finished before putting time and effort into it.

This is not to say that this is any worse than the average modern video game’s update frequency. This is more of a complaint about modern game releases in general.

Fair enough – there were definitely changes and fixes post-release that I forgot about.

That said, reading through the patch descriptions, the last one of any significance (assuming you’re playing in English) was March 2021, six months after release. (The last update, in February 2022, improved Steam Deck support, in time for the first shipments.) So assuming a similar cadence, Hades II should be “done” in about six months.

Given the (I assume) vastly larger early access pool, I would bet on fewer patches for Hades II, though.
