Will be interesting to see if enough of a Simpsons fan base remains for this to be successful in theaters.

I mean Al Jean has been the show runner of the show for the majority of its run. The current show runner Matt Selman has been with the show since 1997.

Obviously new people come and go, but you’ll see familiar names now that have been there for a long while.

The first one was one of my fondest movie going experiences. There’s really nothing like a theater full of people laughing

Copying my comment from another thread:

By the time this movie comes out, the first movie (2007) will be closer in time to the first episode (1989) than to the second movie (2027).

If they’re already working on it, the chalkboard gag from the season 19 episode directly after the movie is technically true

it is almost 20 years since that came out

this comment hurt me deeply. I watched the first one in cinemas and could swear its closer to 10 years

10 years ago is stuff like star wars vii, the jurassic reboot (world), fast 7, mad max reboot, inside out, etc.

Those feel like forever ago too. Maybe after 10 years time starts to compress ;)

John Swartzwelder listed as a writer will be the only way to get me in the theater.

He is 76. " He has written more than a dozen novels, the most recent of which, Dead Detective Mountain, was published in 2023. " His books are hilarious.

Oh shit! I have stuff to add to my reading list. I was worried because of his reputation as a hard drinker and hard smoker, lol

      Saw this in an article

It’s already been renewed through its 40th season, which will air during 2028 and 2029.

But it may get better a season later…I agree Simpsons had its time and much, much more. Still like 3 seasons behind because I prefer early episodes. Single digit seasons are definitely where it was the best but I’m old.

I dunno, I’ve been to some Catholic funerals that got pretty hilarious after the parking lot whiskey was passed around…
