Hi I recommend against using an Arch based distro like manjaro or cachyOS ( arch by nature demands active maintenance ) also depsite the brand name ubuntu is a very bad place to start ( due to them forcing snap packages ). Go for something like fedora kde or bazzite, most of the app you need can come from flathub.

For games you got Steam, Heroic ( for epic games ), lutris ( for everything else ). You will have to quit the habit of hunting .exe file online, most of your apps will come from your store ( discover in your case ).

Vms will not let you bypass anti-cheat stuff so keep that in mind. Check for game compatibility on protondb if needed. Don’t be afraid to ask question ( even dumbs one ).

It’s true it’s more geared toward exposing the album. Most of our clients are association, regional administration or photograpah so it make sense it didn’t make the list. The strengh of piwigo lies in the rich plugin ecosystem.

I don’t directly work on piwigo itself but I’m behind the ( soon to be released ) official docker image and I maintain the Android app.

I would advise using a game engine and trying to make very simple game with it ( like chess ). Once you start to get it think about trying some gamejam with people ( be sure to tell them you are a newbie ).

If you are looking to try specific tools, godot is often use in gamejam and has a lot of tutorials.

I tend to build stuff with html css and php only ( all vanilla) and avoid non trivial js like the plague. I can see your point but for me replacing HTML with js is just wastefull, you leave performance and built in accessibility on the table for a slightly more convenient experience that don’t work for me.

After daily driving it from march to now i can say that in term of user experience it’s great ! On the privacy side it’s better than firefox since it disable telemetry by default and offer a really good container tabs integration but far from librewolf with resist fingerprinting on.

The team is smaller and has made mistake in the past ( leaving remote debugging on in a release ) but it’s nothing egregious for me and I will continue to use it in place of firefox/librewolf.
