I live in the desert, and it gets cold in the winter. Dont really have to deal with ice much, but temps are low. I have had heated grips on a couple bikes, which help offset electric gloves. I now have a nice leather jacket, but prior i used a heated vest plugged into my SAE port. I also wore extra leggings to mitigate my legs freezing. Long sleeves also, even with the heated vest. As long as my traction is good, i will ride anything. I have been daily for a few years now, screaming hot and cold. TLDR Layers Heated gear Good jacket and gloves

3·3 months agoI just built a new bookshelf for my home. Solid wood, 8ft tall, 16ft long. I even added a sliding ladder. Its ben my dream to have a bookshelf like this. I laugh at the thought years from now when the house sells again people will look at it and be pissed, like “what the hell am i supposed to do with that?!”

Privacy@lemmy.dbzer0.com•End of 10 — Windows 10 is reaching the end of its support. Time to make the switch to Linux.
5·6 months agoOk, gonna migrate my archive/plex server to linux on the next iteration/rebuild. I do have a question, as it will affect my timeline. I have an 18TB Raid6 array on a HW raid card. I plan on building out a new raid array when i build the new server, but the end of Win10 has advanced my time table. With HW raid card, can i migrate my array to new OS build. I thought about booting a live distro and seeing if it can recognize the array. Probably the safest approach. Has anyone migrated Operating systems with a raid array? Let alone from windows to linux?

28·6 months agoFrighteningly, i worked as an admin at a hospitality wifi business that ran a windows box for dhcp duty. I would have to go o site, in the middle of the night, down to the basement of this hotel, and reboot the damn thing. It would die almost every week. Replaced with a linux server and never heard from them again.
