“Books were only one type of receptacle where we stored a lot of things we were afraid we might forget. There is nothing magical in them, at all. The magic is only in what books say, how they stitched the patches of the universe together into one garment for us.” Professor Faber

  • I don’t entirely disagree with the message, but I also caution folks with that kind of mindset. If you treat their partner differently or start trash talking them, the friend could start pulling away and that could be really bad if they are in an abusive situation.

OTOH, I also understand why a person would look at their friend’s partner differently in certain situations.

Or I’m just reading into it too much. It’s probably me reading into it too much lol

  • I’m a millennial in my 40s who is starting to get back into old tech from my late teens to early 20s. So far I have a Nintendo 2DS, New Nintendo 3DS, old cheap phone turned dedicated MP3 player/mobile video device, and a boombox that does CDs, aux, AMFM radio, and has Bluetooth capabilities. The boombox is newer, but still plays CDs. I like having dedicated devices that don’t do everything.

The old cheap phone is nice because I can load it with music or movies and it saves battery life when I stream on my phone. The DSs are because that is my favorite handheld system and there are a ton of games that you can get for cheap or free. The boombox is because I dragged out all of my old CDs, found a lot of good cheap ones at thrift stores.

I’m just tired of paying for all the streaming services and owning nothing. So I’m going backwards in time with my tech.

  • Guys are absolutely missing out because skirts and dresses are awesome. Sometimes on hot days, I’ll move my skirt more because it’s hot and my partner says I’m “cooling down the vag”. He’s absolutely correct, it feels great on hot days and I bet guys would love it if y’all would try it out. Get yourself a kilt and go for it man.

  • It is about the e-ink labels. I don’t disagree that companies like Walmart will use it to be scammy, but I believe all companies should switch to those. I also believe there should be laws against dynamic pricing to avoid this type of issue.

When I worked in retail, we would have a team of 6 spend 4 hours going through the entire store to swap out every single price tag before the store opened. It didn’t matter if the price stayed the same because the tags had expiration dates and customers would get their panties in a bunch over it. The amount of plastic waste created by weekly and daily price changes is insane.

  • I can see where some of the jokes drag on a bit, but I’m personally ok with that. I’ve rewatched it a bunch of times when I use the elliptical or stationary bike at the gym. I feel like the extra laughs give my abs a workout 🤷‍♀️ lol. I laugh my ass off at “The power of Patty compels you!!” and “Is it more or less disgusting if I tell you it came out the front?” every single time. I adore Holtzman so much.

For me, the new ones don’t have a redeeming quality, that’s not the kid actors faults though. Afterlife came out when we still weren’t going to theaters because of COVID. I was very excited for it and I bought it at full price the day it came out on iTunes. I watched it that night and the first thing I remember saying after it was over was “what the fuck was that shit?” All that nostalgia baiting cash grabbing was gross. And the CGI Egon at the end made me feel sick to my stomach, it felt disrespectful to Harold Ramis. I can’t even bring myself to be interested in Frozen Empire.

I often see people complain that a franchise “forgot” what they are supposed to be about and IMO, that is exactly what happened with GBA and GBFE. They completely forgot that GB is a raunchy horror comedy and made a family friendly coming of age “scary” movie. It’s an entirely different genre.
