Yes, among all the valid criticism of ai, this doesn’t feel like it. More like “let’s find a definition for tool that excludes AI” (and not even bother checking if it applies to other tools as well)

Opensource@programming.dev•Euro-Office, a good fork of highly criticized ONLYOFFICE
4·8 hours agoI wish it were as reliable as libreoffice, hopefully in a future release.
Current state: libreoffice has a terrible UI but works. OnlyOffice has a great UI but only works when I don’t need it urgently

Yes, very common especially for women (from what my friends tell me). If you still have grandparents, they are usually even more blunt.
As a man, my mother has slowly started to suggest she would be interested in seeing how my children would look like. But it’s definitely less common as a conversation topic. She already has some grandchildren from my siblings as well, so the pressure is less intense.
So yes, very common and very annoying
Okay, so same issue as I have. But I think we’re getting there. There is a dedicated section already in my local electronics store which tells me this is becoming mainstream already

2·24 hours agoYes, people tend to support fucked up regimes in their home countries if they don’t have to suffer the consequences.
And recommended resources to learn about this and what to look out for? Appropriate size per use case etc? I like the idea of getting one+solar panel for my rental apartment, but i have zero clue which one would be good or if it’s just a waste of money.

Lemmy Shitpost•College core: you sit in the class for attendance then go home and teach yourself
2·3 days agoThe other thing is, there are maybe 10% max of students who understand it on their own and it hurts forcing them to come to class (it’s department policy in my case). 80% don’t do shit but most are exam smart enough to pass. I wouldn’t give those any responsibility for any serious project at this point, but I don’t know how they develop after graduation. 10% are just lost.
Now try to design a course that accommodates all of them appropriately.
What about server OSs? That would rescale the mainstream/niche dimension quite drastically

Optimize for minimal complainability, maximal annoyance and minimal effect of actual complaints

Well, they still have the alternative solution of digging that massive canal below.
As a positive side effect, that would produce a massive pile of dirt, big enough to bury the Epstein files
