WILDCARD!!!
Your gonna love what that spilled gas does to the asphalt. Get ready for pot-pits
Ignoring the fact that this is so dangerous, that is like a thousand dollars worth of gas, and it is spilling on the road.
COVID brought the dumbest of us out of the woodworks.
People filling garbage bags and grocery bags full of gasoline was not (just) a meme. I saw it firsthand.
Its open topped so its also evaporating AFAIK
And, perhaps best of all, it is precisely the vapors that are highly flammable. It is like a big open-air bomb. Thermobaric explosion incoming in 3…2…whooomp
This is what happens when you spend too much time breathing gasoline fumes.
there’s a reason they tell you to NOT fill gas containers on your truck bed. It will ignite from static charge. Source: NIOSH.
In recent incidents reported to the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), fires spontaneously ignited when workers or others attempted to fill portable gasoline containers (gas cans) in the backs of pickup trucks equipped with plastic bed liners or in cars with carpeted surfaces…These fires result from the buildup of static electricity. The insulating effect of the bed liner or carpet prevents the static charge generated by gasoline flowing into the container or other sources from grounding. The discharge of this buildup to the grounded gasoline dispenser nozzle may cause a spark and ignite the gasoline. Both ungrounded metal (most hazardous) and plastic gas containers have been involved in these incidents.
I think Veritasium made a video about the importance of conductive rubber tires when fueling.
This video pops up every once in a while…I’m pretty sure it was claimed to be fake, but as I remember there wasn’t much detail other than the video itself.
I can’t speak for this one, but I have seen it before.
What leads me to believe it might be faked is if the cashier knew and was calling the police (as stated in the video), they can and should have hit the emergency stop for that pump; same thing they have to do if there’s a fuel leak from one of them.
Notice how you don’t actually see any fuel coming out of the nozzle? And how the “fuel” is crystal clear, even though nearly all commercial gasoline sold has dyes to indicate it’s octane?
That and the fact that he would have been there for 30 minutes or more, having to re-up the pump every 50 gallons or so. A lot of them cut you off at a certain point. There’s roughly 500 gallons in a pickup truck bed.
Oh, yeah, that’s true. I think it cuts you off somewhere below the pre-auth amount (whatever that dollar amount translates to in gallons). Didn’t even think of that, but yeah.
I hope so, but I’ve also seen videos of people filling up plastic bags with fuel 😂
That one’s sadly true. I saw it firsthand in my neck of the woods. Also garbage bags. Same result either way.
Well, don’t leave us hanging! What was the result?
The bag dissolved and spilled gasoline all over the pavement before they could even lift it into the trunk of their car.
Shit was fire
The start looks very very scripted. Too well filmed over all.
