Although the material will have come as no surprise to fans of Glaser’s edgy material on her Comedy Central roast appearances over the years, some viewers found the jokes a step too far, especially since Glaser’s first sketch post-monologue focused on incest.

Maybe it’s just me, I wasn’t rolling laughing at the jokes or anything but they weren’t so bad I’d write an article about them.

It’s late night comedy, what did you expect? It’s supposed to be more crass. And yeah, “more afraid of it because I might like it” is a classic. Big whoop.

You’re never going to be a hack writing sensationalist bullshit headlines with that attitude.

It’s also Nikki Glaser, probably one of the most savage and unfiltered comedians working right now. You don’t bring her on without expecting people to make a stink.

Just now started seeing her roasts on YouTube. My god, she’s a modern-day Don Rickles, nothing is out of bounds.

Reminds me of Rickles roasting Sinatra’s mob ties. I was like, “Jesus. And Sinatra didn’t call in a hit on him?!”

I thought it was okay. But then, it’s an SNL opener, not a standup special, so I don’t expect to be rolling in my seat.

Wow this show is so wildly inconsistent, last week was pretty hilarious, this week I barely cracked a smile except for Pete Davidson’s spot on weekend update and the surreal musical bit. She was not funny once.

I mean, they are writing a new show every week. There’s gonna be some misses. The fact that they are inconsistent is probably why SNL has produced some of the best comedians and comedic actors for the last several decades - they aren’t heavily filtered or forced to produce “the best show ever” week after week. They are able to fuck around, do stupid shit, and see what people find funny - which is the same way every comedian develops a good standup routine.

Yeah true, I mean it’s not like it was every 100% funny even when they had the best casts sometimes the skits were just garbage, or more likely, not my brand of humor.

I thought the video clip in the linked article was pretty funny actually. I also strongly believe that anything can be joked about, just be funny. If you’re going to pick some serious material, be funny and not a preachy asshole, and I’m on board.
